Introducing Blogtography Sessions | Leicester Blogtography Taster Day

I have recently launched Blogtography sessions, a cost-effective shoot to enable bloggers to have great imagery to accompany their content. To celebrate, I invited six lovely local Leicester bloggers to experience a mini shoot, and here’s a round-up of what we were able to create together!

Nancy from Sugar, Darling

Jen from JenAFitLife

Beccy from Raucous By Nature

For a number of years, I myself ran a blog, and I know first-hand just how important having great imagery is in order for your content to stand out. When I started, the blogosphere was mainly populated by relatable bloggers taking photos on their iPhone or tiny little point-and-shoot, however with the rise of image-based social media apps like Instagram and Pinterest, stunning photography has become paramount to achieving success as a blogger.

Most bloggers create a blog simply because they want to share their thoughts with the world. They may not have the technical knowledge, the gear or an Instagrammable backdrop to create the images they want. Blogging also takes up a lot of time, and I know just how many bloggers struggle with squeezing in a photo session with working a 9-5, especially in the winter. There’s also the fact that some many niches simply require you in front of the camera which, unless you have a tripod and remote, just makes things so much harder. That’s where my Blogtography sessions come in!

Megan from Megan Elizabeth Lifestyle

Chloe from Beautiful Bundle of Chaos

Renu from Thoughts Fashion Lifestyle/Renu Ravalia

For the Leicester taster day, I chose a variety of different bloggers I had fashion shoots with Nancy from Sugar, Darling? and Megan from Megan Elizabeth Lifestyle. Two fabulous family/lifestyle bloggers, Beccy from Raucous By Nature and Chloe from Beautiful Bundle of Chaos brought their little ones along for a mummy + me session, which was great fun! Turns out the kids were more interested in the prospect of getting an ice cream after, but who can blame them. Ice cream wins every time, right?!

I worked with the lovely Jen from Jen A Fit Life on a fitness shoot, which was something really different and enjoyable. Last call of the day was a personal branding session with Renu (who also has the Instagram account Thoughts Fashion Lifestyle) for her new digital marketing business, Renu Ravalia.

Stay tuned for the full posts with all the inside info, as well as my favourite images from each of the shoots, which will be live as each blogger uploads their blog post. This was the first in a series of Blogtography Taster Sessions I’m running this summer across the areas I cover. Keep an eye out for the images from my next taster days!

Autumn in March | Leicester Blogger Shoot

These images were from on our first day of shooting of the year, this time for Radhika’s post with perfume brand Amelgo. We did a spin-round from one of our typical locations, and found that the rich russet tones really complemented the wooden fascia of the perfume bottle. It also really gave us autumnal vibes, and coupled with Radhika’s boho-esque floral dress, was reminiscent of the 70s. All we needed to complete the look would be a Chloé Nile bag, something we were joking around about before this shoot, but it actually would have been perfect!

Highlights of 2017

So 2017 has come to a close, and marks the end of my second year shooting with bloggers. I really found my groove at the start of the year, however in the middle of the year things became tricky as I didn’t have a camera for a while, and had to adjust to using a (rather crappy) replacement. That being said, I think I have made some good progress this year, and look forward to seeing where my photography takes me in 2018!

To wrap up the year, I’ve put together a selection of my favourite images from 2017…

1) January 2017

One of my first shoots of the year, and this portrait of Radhika is still one of my favourites as I think the angle gives it a really nice high-fashion feel, something I’d like to explore more in 2018. I also loved the rich tones of Radhika’s tunic, as well as her glamorous curls!

2) February 2017

Another portrait, another favourite. These are fast becoming some of my favourite images to shoot, over full body shots. I adored the lighting from this shoot as I think it gives a really warm feel, despite the fact that this photo was taken in the depths of winter!

3. March 2017

I loved the complementary hues of blue in the background and Radhika’s trench coat, and I also really liked the natural, candid feel of this image.

4. March 2017

I love the sassy vibes of this image of Emmie, as it was something completely different from the work I do with Radhika. It was really fun to shoot in a new style of location too!

5. March 2017

Another one from March, and what’s not to love about a pink wall? I love the way this image came out and the minimalist feel the coloured background gives.

6. April 2017

Although I wasn’t a huge fan of this shoot overall (I think it was the first I did with the Lumix G3 and I felt that the white balance was really off), I still really like this hair-flick photo. I love the movement it captures, and I think Radhika’s beautiful hairband really brings the look together.

7. May 2017

Another shoot in front of this fab blue door, this time to complement Radhika’s bright blue bag and blazer. I loved quite a few images from this shoot, but this one I particularly like because of the movement the swinging handbag gives to the image.

8. July 2017

This one was shot in my hometown of Market Harborough, and the gorgeous flowers in the Memorial Gardens worked so well with Radhika’s ruffled dress. I particularly love the framing the flowers give to the image, and I think Radhika’s pose is really natural and pretty!

9. August 2017

My final favourite is one from our last day of shooting together in 2017 . I absolutely loved the colours of the flowers, and how it complemented Radhika’s outfit and bag. Her posing really makes this image look glamorous!
